The UK's only Emergency Services Museum

999 Staff

The National Emergency Services Museum is a self-funded, independent charity and does not receive any financial support for its day-to-day running.

As a thank you to the emergency services for their continued support, including donations of uniforms, equipment and, most importantly, the stories you share with us, 999 staff receive discounted entry to the museum. Admission is £5.50 with a valid form of ID.

How does this work?

When you arrive, please let a member of our team know you are with emergency services and present your valid ID at the desk.

Discounted entry is available to serving and retired members of the following organisations:

  • Fire & Rescue Service
  • Police Service
  • NHS Ambulance Service, including Community First Responders (CFRs)
  • NHS employees
  • Air Ambulance
  • HM Coastguard
  • RNLI / Lifeboat
  • Mountain Rescue
  • Mines Rescue
  • Bomb Disposal
  • Lowland Rescue
  • Armed Forces

If you are unsure whether you qualify for this discount, please contact us before your visit.

Please note that Blue Light Cards are not accepted as proof of eligibility and cannot be used to obtain discounted entry.

We would love to be a 100% free-entry museum, but as a self-funded, independent charity, this is not currently possible. Every visit directly supports the care of this national collection, our exhibitions and our community work.

Support our charity, helping to keep your story alive

Since the opening of the original museum in 1931, we have continued to expand the scope of our collection, preserving and sharing the history of the 999 services for nearly 100 years. Every visit helps us care for our collection, protect our historic building, and ensure the stories of those who serve continue to be remembered, valued, and passed on to future generations.
