The museum does not have its own on-site parking. However, there are several pay-and-display car parks nearby, making the museum a great base for exploring Sheffield.

Please note that the car park directly behind the museum on Lambert Street is private and does not offer visitor or pay-and-display parking. Please use alternative public car parks in the area.

By Bus, Train or Tram

The museum is just a short walk from the centre of Sheffield with our nearest tram stops being located at Sheffield Cathedral or Shalesmoor. Our nearest bus stop is located on West Bar, directly opposite to the museum with the number bus 57, 81, 82, 86 and 135 all stopping here.

Travel South Yorkshire

By Sheffield Connect (FREE BUS)

Sheffield Connect 1 & 2 provide free travel for everyone around the city centre to make it easy to get around, with stops located just a few minutes’ walk of the main active areas and existing trams and train links. Using the Sheffield Connect 2 bus route, use the 'Millsands / Bridge Street' stop and walk along West Bar to reach the museum entrance. Using the Sheffield Connect 1 bus route, use the 'Church Street' stop outside the Cathedral, continue down St James Row, onto Paradise Street, and onto West Bar, where the museum entrance will be opposite the roundabout on your left.

By Bicycle

West Bar is now home to a redesigned roundabout and travel system prioritising pedestrians and pedal bikes! If you're visiting the museum by bike, you'll find convenient parking spaces between the museum's main entrance and the neighbouring Hampton by Hilton Hotel. Plus, just across the roundabout, additional parking spots are available specifically for bicycles!

On foot

Conveniently on the West Bar roundabout, we’re only a short walk from the Sheffield Law Courts and the lively city centre. With Sheffield Cathedral just minutes away, why not make the most of your trip by exploring nearby attractions, other museums, and shops? Or head in the opposite direction and explore Kelham Island, with even more heritage sites.
